The young man you see in the photo just needed a helping hand. D4D and Meisha Robinson, who manages the free medical equipment program we supply at St. Philip Neri Church, were glad to extend it. His name is Derrall Willis, age 52. We received this message from his sister:
“My name is Latasha Morris and Derrall Willis is my brother. I am forever grateful for you and your church family at St. Philip Neri in blessing my brother with a wheelchair. My brother Derrall was shot when I was 5 years old. His gunshot wounds left him paraplegic and in a wheelchair ever since.
“Derrall is currently homeless and staying in a shelter on the West Side because none of our family’s apartments where we live are ADA accessible and wherever he lives must be handicap accessible. I feel bad for my brother because he has overcome so many obstacles in life. Thanks again for giving us a wheelchair in our time of need.”
And Derrall added, “I am so happy that you blessed me. THANKS AGAIN, May God continue to bless each of you, Derrall Willis May 2017.”
