D4D Announces New Distribution Center

When Ed Kane conceived the idea for Devices 4 the Disabled in 2015, his dream was to give the disabled more visibility, and to bridge the gaps in the distribution system that prevent them from getting what they need. His friend Bob Shea was determined to make Ed’s dream a reality, and to recognize Ed with a center where the disabled could go to be fitted for power equipment and other durable medical equipment.

Today that dream becomes a reality. As you can see in the accompanying photo, we have signed the lease on the Ed Kane Center, which will be located at 2743 W. 36th Place, in the heart of Chicago. The location will serve as our distribution site for power wheelchairs, scooters, patient lifts, and other durable medical equipment. We will be working with Mt. Sinai Medical Center and other medical facilities in the area to provide this much-needed service for people in need. The only requirement is demonstrated need, and the disabled will be able to get what they need at no cost to them.

This new step in D4D’s evolution comes with new responsibilities. These include monthly rent, utility costs, insurance, repairs and maintenance to equipment, and transportation of equipment to the new facility. We’re excited to make this leap. But we need your help.

As the end of the year giving season approaches, please keep D4D in your giving plans. We also ask you to share this with your friends and business colleagues so they can make Ed’s dream a reality and give Ed a new home. We’re excited about these new steeps and we’ll keep you informed as we open the center and get everything operational.
